Son Gallard Vell is a historic estate in Coll d\u2019en Rabassa, founded in 1582 and ceded in 1609 to the Dominican friars of the Convent of Santo Domingo in Palma. For more than two centuries, the friars cultivated their land \u2014 vineyards, olive groves and almond orchards \u2014 and kept beehives as part of their productive activities. That connection between the religious order, the Mallorcan land and the bees is the thread that links four centuries of history to today\u2019s product.<\/p>\n
The brief was to create an identity that would tell that story without explaining it. The design should speak before the words do.<\/p>\n
We developed the complete brand identity and labels for each variety of honey \u2014Algarrobo Monofloral, Young Spring, Full Summer\u2014, each with its own colour scheme within the same visual universe. The centrepiece of the system is the illustration of a Dominican friar riding a bee: an icon that encapsulates four centuries of history in a single stroke, with just the right touch of humour to ensure it doesn\u2019t take itself too seriously. The blocky, bold typeface anchors the brand in the contemporary, whilst the cream background and the label\u2019s classic composition pay tribute to tradition.<\/p>\n
\u00abThere are places that accumulate time without ageing. Son Gallard is one of them.\u00bb<\/em> That phrase, which the clients themselves had already come up with, summed it all up.
