Digital Kit: when the cheap is half done

We have been seeing how the story of the Digital Kit works from the outside for a long time.

And lately, also from within.

At Indigo, more and more customers come to us with the same phrase:

“They made the website for me with the Kit, but I don't know how to play anything. Can you help me?”. And we do.

But every time we fix one of these websites, we think the same thing: Wouldn't it have been cheaper, faster and more dignified to do it right from the start?

A website that is supposed to be yours, but that you don't understand

The big problem isn't just the generic design (which too), nor the typefaces taken from a 2014 pack, nor the broken forms.

The real problem is that Nobody explains anything to you.

They give you a website, they send you access, and you get by.

And if you later want to edit the blog, change an image or upload a project... good luck.

You have to look for the computer scientist, the one on the form, the cousin of the plugin.

Or directly assume that this website was not for you, but so that they could collect from the State and move on to something else.

And now, who fixes it?

Well, us, or any other studio that works with love.

In the end, you end up paying the same. Or more.

Because redoing takes longer than doing.

And because we're not just talking about broken code, but about structure, approach, design designed for what you do, not to keep up with the record.

Not all, but many

There are agencies that work with the Digital Kit and do it well, with transparency and attention.

But others deliver half-baked websites, without personalization, without soul (we can't say that, but you understand me), and with no intention of accompanying you later.

And of course, when that happens, the web looks like a piece of furniture without instructions.

There it is, on your server, waiting for someone to understand it.

And SEO... well, that's right

Many Digital Kit projects talk about SEO as if it were magic.

“Your website will be optimized for search engines.”

Optimized how? With Yoast installed by default? With three misplaced keywords and a URL that says “/start-2”?

With a 6MB image without alt text and a meta description that says “another site made with WordPress”?

To say that a website has SEO “because the plugin has it” is like saying that a car runs more because you have attached a Ferrari logo to it.

SEO is not an add-on, it's part of the design

Making a website with SEO doesn't mean inserting keywords with a shoehorn or putting in a title with H1 format and that's it.

It means structuring the content well, understanding how people search, writing texts with intention, naming images well, thinking about mobile phones, loading quickly and, above all, Have something to say.

And for that you need a head, not just tools.

Conclusion

The most surreal thing is that many agencies don't even finish the web. Literal.

The half-finished design, the pages without content, the footer with the test text in Latin... and you waiting for them to respond to your email for three weeks.

The reason? Very simple: they have already processed the Kit, they have already charged, and they are already working on something else.

You're left with a ghost website, unfinished, without instructions, and with no one on the other side.

And then the usual thing happens: it's time to look for someone who will pick up the mess, understand it (if he can), and redo it with common sense.

And yes, that's where we come in. He has already touched us more times than we would like.

So you know, if you've already been made one of those “free” websites but it gives you more headaches than joy, write to us.

Sometimes you don't have to start from scratch. Sometimes you just have to finish what someone left half done.
